Doula Services

I offer a free initial consultation to determine if I will be a the right Doula to work together with you and support you during the birth of your child.

I provide support for families based on their needs and desires at the time, meeting them where they are. I also provide educational support based on the current research as well as:

  • At least two prenatal home visits.
  • Unlimited phone, text, and email support during pregnancy and postpartum.
  • Educational support during pregnancy.
  • Tips and guidance in learning the tools to utilize while preparing for labor, birth, and postpartum.
  • Assistance in creating a personalized birth plan.
  • Labor support at home and/or in the hospital as needed.
  • Physical, emotional, and informational support during both labor and birth.
  • At least two postpartum visits.
  • Referrals for local resources and support services.

Please understand that it is not in my scope of practice to perform clinical procedures, such as monitoring blood pressure or fetal heart tones, pelvic exams, administration of anything by IV, etc. I also cannot make decisions for you. I will help you obtain the information you need to make the best decisions for you, and will also remind you if there is a deviation from your birth plan. I will also not speak to the staff instead of you regarding decisions being made. I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, however you or your partner will speak on your behalf to the clinical staff.

Fees for Labor Doula services are $1,600.

Why does a doula cost so much?

It may seem like a lot of money, but the doula does a lot of work for the woman and her partner. I give 2 hour prenatal visits where you have my undivided attention to answer questions, look up information, and help you prepare for the birth of your baby. I rearrange my life and set aside my social and familial commitments in order to make myself available for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from week 37 until the birth of your baby. Once I arrive to support you during labor, you have my complete focus and I am working with you to have the best birth experience you can, staying up with you and working along side you and your partner. The postpartum visit usually lasts another 1-2 hours. When a birth can last for 16 hours or longer, it is easy to see that I could be working for you for 24 or more hours. Evidence has shown that a doula can provide a family with invaluable support and a lasting positive experience.
